Instead of Complaining, Take Action

We cannot change anything until we accept it.
Condemnation does not liberate, it oppresses.
- Carl Jung

Any fool can criticize, condemn and complain,
and most fools do.
- Benjamin Franklin

Never ascribe to malice that which is
adequately explained by incompetence.

When they are disappointed, most people react by assigning blame,
and finding someone to criticize.
What if we accepted that our disappointments
are seldom the result of malice on the part of anyone,
and worked together to make life better for all.
Don't Complain, Take Action Instead.
- Jonathan Lockwood Huie

The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am,
then I can change.

Celebrate Differences, Celebrate Others

It is our inability to recognize, accept,
and celebrate those differences.

We are all different - and we are all one.
Take time to understand, and to appreciate.

if you can stretch out a helping hand, do so.
If you cannot, fold your hands, bless your brothers,

So let's be honest with ourselves and not take ourselves too serious,
and never condemn the other fellow for doing what we are doing every day,
only in a different way.

and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.

Native Americans' Day (aka Columbus Day) 2017

Like slave-owners Washington and Jefferson, Christopher Columbus was a person of his times.
Moreover, like all persons of all times, Columbus possessed qualities to admire, and qualities to condemn.
In the century following Columbus' arrival in the Americas, 95% of the 70 million Native Americans were either killer by Europeans, or died from diseases brought by the Europeans.

Security is mostly a superstition.
It does not exist in nature, nor do the children of men as a whole experience it.
Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure.
Life is either a daring adventure, or nothing.
- Helen Keller

Unless you try to do something beyond what you have already mastered,
you will never grow.
- Ralph Waldo Emerson

The biggest adventure you can take is to live the life of your dreams.
- Oprah Winfrey

Be a Columbus to whole new continents and worlds within you,
opening new channels, not of trade, but of thought.
- Henry David Thoreau

Judge Not

Judge not, that you be not judged.
For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged;
and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.
- Matthew 7:1-2

As soon as we find someone to blame,
we act as if we've solved the problem.
- Margaret J. Wheatley

Class, race, sexuality, gender and all other categories
by which we categorize and dismiss each other need
to be excavated from the inside.
- Dorothy Allison

The impulse to blame something or someone is foolishness.
There is nothing to be gained in blaming,
whether it be others or oneself.

to free our inner selves to attract what we say we want.
- Joe Vitale

When they are disappointed, most people react by assigning blame,
and finding someone to criticize.
