Easter Sunday 2021

The great gift of Easter is hope -
Christian hope which makes us have that confidence in God,
in his ultimate triumph, and in his goodness and love,
which nothing can shake.
- Basil C. Hume

Our Lord has written the promise of the resurrection,
not in books alone, but in every leaf in spring-time.
- Martin Luther

This is what the Lord asks of you: only this,
to act justly, to love tenderly,
and to walk humbly with your God.
- Micah 6:8

Faith consists in believing when it is beyond the power of reason to believe.
- Voltaire

Guide our feet into the way of peace.
- Luke 1:79

Today, Easter, the most Holy day on the Christian calendar, is a day to celebrate our spiritual natures. We are not just bones and flesh, chemicals and electricity, we are beings of Spirit, one with each other and one with the eternity and infinity of Creation.

On this day, let us affirm the core values of unconditional love of all humans and an uncompromising commitment to caring for all who are sick, infirm, or troubled - as expressed in the biblical story of the Good Samaritan. Spring

If the sight of the blue skies fills you with joy,
if a blade of grass springing up in the fields has power to move you,
if the simple things in nature have a message you understand,
Rejoice, for your soul is alive.
- Eleanora Duse

Earth and sky, woods and fields, lakes and rivers,
the mountain and the sea, are excellent schoolmasters,
and teach some of us more than we can ever learn from books.
- John Lubbock

For every person who has ever lived,
there has come, at last, a spring he will never see.
Glory then in the springs that are yours.
- Pam Brown

Everybody needs beauty as well as bread,
places to play in and pray in where nature may heal and cheer
and give strength to the body and soul.
- John Muir

Flowers are Nature's messengers -
reminders of an unspeakable beauty.

If Winter comes, can Spring be far behind? - Percy Bysshe Shelley

If Winter comes, can Spring be far behind?
- Percy Bysshe Shelley

What's the problem? Sometimes we have a generalized sense that something is not right, without not knowing the true problem. This is especially common when the weather is cold and gray, the days are short, and we are housebound.

If you are feeling the "winter blahs," try...

1. Get more physical exercise, even if it's on the treadmill.

2. Crank up the lights around you.

3. Focus on projects that keep you mentally and physically active and interacting with others.

Gardening is all about optimism - Mary Anne Radmacher

Gardening is all about optimism.
- Mary Anne Radmacher

Winter clings stubbornly to portions of the globe. Gardeners follow time honored practices in spite of what they see. In spite of unseasonable wind, snow and unexpected weather of all sorts – a gardener still plants. And tends what they have planted…believing that Spring will come.
