- Yoda (Star Wars movie)
What's wrong with the common advice to Try, and Try Harder?
Saying, "I'll try," tends to feel half-hearted and unconvincing. We wouldn't say, "I'm going to try to go to the store for a loaf of bread," we would just say, "I'm going," and so we would.
We would feel extremely unsafe if the pilot of our aircraft announced, "I'm going to try to land at the New York airport in five minutes." When we say something like, "I'm going to try to get a better job," we exhibit a lack of confidence that inhibits our ability to accomplish what we intend.
Just take a deep breath, tell the world what you are going to do, and then do it.
Good insight, Jonathan!
ReplyDeleteI'll "try," has been one of my biggest downfalls! I knew that it was an excuse, just a way for me to weasel out of something that was beneficial! But I thank God for using You (Jonathan), to open my eyes to the Truth, Again! I was taught to, "not try, just do," when I first surrendered my life to Christ. There is no reason not to do what is right! If Jesus can carry His Own Cross after all He had been through, Nothing should stop us from just being an example to a dying world. We were created to Glorify Our God in Everything That We Do, not to live only to please ourselves! These Are Truly, The Last Days! It's time for the People Of God to Be The Ambassadors we were created to be! We Are The Redeemed Of The Almighty! Let us Live The Word Of God! Let us be Ready To Go With Our Lord, When He Returns!
