How To Know What To Do
About morals: I know only that
what is moral is what you feel good after
and what is immoral is what you feel bad after.
- Ernest Hemingway
When I do good, I feel good.
When I do bad, I feel bad.
That's my religion.
- Abraham Lincoln
Needless to say, the Lincoln/Hemingway test for whether an action is moral only applies to people who are fundamentally moral.
In matters of conscience,
the law of the majority has no place.
- Mohandas (Mahatma) Gandhi
The truth of the matter is that
you always know the right thing to do.
The hard part is doing it.
- Norman Schwarzkoff
Only good comes from being honest and true.
Only harm and suffering cone from falsehood.
It doesn't always appear that good comes from truth and honesty,
but, in the long run, it does.
